He was born April 25, 1940, in Dorr, MI a son of the late John and Hilda (Griffin) Rozema.
Jerry grew up in Grand Rapids, MI and graduated from South Christian H.S. He started some college courses, but he was drafted into the Armed forces. The Army sent him to serve in Tacoma, Washington during the Berlin Crisis. After 30 years in law enforcement, he retired to a life of travel. His hobby was visiting every state capital while riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed college basketball and football. Go Spartans. Even more, he enjoyed watching his grandkids participate in their various sports.
Retirement also meant spending half the year in Michigan and half in Arizona. Church attendance was split between Centerpoint Church and Catalina Foothill Church and through Centerpoint he had many memorable mission trips.
Most of all, Jerry loved spending time with his family. He often had a story to share to teach yet another lesson. The majority of his instruction came to us from the good book of Proverbs, for he knew that if he “Trained up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old, he will not depart” Proverbs 22:6. Jerry held dear to three simple words: Faith, Hope and Love and lived out each in a very big way.
