Jerry Allen Replogle, 70, of Elkhart, died at 6:49 a.m. Monday (Dec. 14, 2009) at Elkhart General Hospital after an extended illness.

He was born Nov. 10, 1939, in Mishawaka to Edwin A. and Jeanie Y. (Auman) Replogle.

He is survived by one daughter, Kimberlee A. (David) Bickel of Elkhart; one son, Tyge A. Lasarenko of Detroit; one sister, Sharon K. (Dennis) Forbregd of Bristol; one brother, Gregory D. Replogle of Elkhart; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Randle.

Mr. Replogle was an accomplished lifelong graphic artist. He painted homes, RV graphic designs, murals, portraits and drawings. He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1958 and was credited with designing the first ever “Mr. B,” the Elkhart (Central) High School Blue Blazers mascot.

In 1968 he started Replogle Arts, an art and art supply store, and in 1971 he began J.T. Enterprises, a van conversion shop. He retired in 2001 due to health reasons. He spent much time drawing, sketching and painting, but he was also an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at Four Lakes Country Club. He was a member of Elkhart Moose Lodge 599. He was a radioman in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1964, where he served with the Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean Sea aboard the USS Wood County.
