On June 15, 2024, a gentle, bright, and caring soul departed this earth and entered Heaven. Jeremy Allen Vaughan (35) was the son of Elizabeth and Michael Duesberry and Dale and Helene Vaughan. He was brother to Jessica Vaughan, Michael Ian Duesberry, Loretta Sexton, and Marshall “Bubba” Jarrell, Jr., uncle to Eli, and the grandson of Darryl and Jeanie Rhodes, and Priscilla Vaughan. He was also loved by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas “Tommy” Vaughan, Walter and Joyce Duesberry, and Patricia Maier.

Jeremy was born on June 18, 1988. He tried soccer, basketball, baseball and boy scouts but it was apparent early that music was his passion. He was a 2006 graduate of Prince George High School, where he was a member of the marching band, while also studying piano on the side. In 2010, he received a Bachelor’s in Music Composition with a specialization in piano performance from Shenandoah University, where he was a member of the Phi Mu Alpha music fraternity. This was followed by a two summers in Italy where he attended and studied at the International Festival of Contemporary Music. In 2012, he graduated from the Boston Conservatory with a Master’s degree in Music Composition.

After receiving his Master’s, Jeremy worked at the Boston symphony and later at the Berklee College of Music. He also played music for a number of churches during and after college. After a number of years in Boston, he returned to the home of his grandparents in Stony Creek, VA where he lovingly cared for his grandmother, Priscilla, until the time of his passing.

Jeremy was a son, a brother, an uncle, and a friend. He had a passion for music, art, Leonard Bernstein, and Schitt’s Creek. He was a constant learner, always having a non-fiction book within his grasp, or teaching himself Russian, and continually amazing everyone with his Jeopardy knowledge. He was a pianist and a composer, and he will be terribly missed.
