Mr. Jeremiah Smith, 86, a resident of 321-B Henley St., died Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at Wesley Long Nursing Center, Greensboro.

He was born September 25, 1918 in Anson County, North Carolina, a son of George and Fannie Smith. A resident of High Point for 65 years, he was a retired employee of England Mattress Company, and a member of First Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he was a member of the senior choir.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie H. Smith Rush; one son, Paul J. Smith; one daughter, Alma M. Little; and two brothers, James “J.T.” Smith and Willie “June” Smith.

Surviving relatives include: three sons, Jerry Smith of Winston Salem, N.C., Robert Smith and wife, Maureen of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., and Dennis “Bull” Wall of High Point, N.C.; two daughters, Celria Byrd and husband, Rev. Lee Byrd of Wadesboro, N.C., and Bernice Dunlap and husband, Elder Theartis Dunlap, of Winston Salem, N.C.; seven grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; one brother, Nehemiah Smith of Jacksonville, Florida; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
