Jeff Meeker, born in Greeley, Colorado on July 14, 1958 to Leonard and Florine Meeker. Raised in the Ault, Colorado community as a country farm boy and attending Highland High School, Jeff excelled in sports. Baseball was his game of choice. He and his Husky teammates were state champions in 1976. After high school Jeff attended Aims Community College for a short period while working in the Greeley area.

Adventure called and a move to New York’s Long Island became Jeff’s first life changing move. Jeff landed a job in Babylon, NY working as a real estate agent. This exposure to the general public spotlighted one of Jeff’s biggest and best assets, his ability to draw people into his life as business associates and more importantly as heartfelt friends. The friends Jeff made while in New York have kept in contact through the years, never to forget the infectious personality of a young Colorado man brought into their lives.

Real Estate became a spring board for Jeff and he was soon into the investment banking business. Jeff started his investment banking career with Dollar Dry Dock Bank in Nicksville, NY. Jeff was realizing a love for the many things NY had to offer. He loved NY delicatessens, NY pizza, NY nightlife and the NY Yankees for sure!! One thing he loved more than all the rest was a girl named Gabriela Buerklin. They were coworkers and she soon became ‘the best’ of his best friends. Jeff and Gab next moved to Syracuse, NY for a short time. Best friends was not enough and they were married December 31, 1993.

With his soul mate and lifelong companion at his side, Jeff’s attention soon swayed toward a permanent life’s station. The majesty of Colorado’s high country elk, the sound of pheasants and quail flushing in Kansas, trout fishing in Wyoming and the wide open spaces of the western plains under clear blue skies brought the country boy back to his home of Fort Collins, Colorado. Jeff started his own company, Fort Collins Financial and while he built a client list Gabriela was in pursuit of a career in computer technologies. Watching Gab study and work caught Jeff’s eye and before they knew it, Jeff was attending Front Range Community College where he received a degree in computer science. Continued training lead to skills in advanced computer networking technologies. Jobs were available in this up and coming field and once again the couple were both flourishing.

Now that their careers were advancing it was inevitable, Haley Caitlin Meeker joined the party on July 29, 1996. Next was son, John Davis Meeker on November 29, 2002. The family soon bought a new home in Brighton, Colorado where friends and neighbors would gather on weekends, usually cheering on the Broncos or the Rockies (unless they played the Yankees). The family still resides here today with a multitude of friends. Tragically, Jeff succumbed to injuries suffered on March 13, 2013 while riding his prized Harley Davidson. He has physically departed this world but his presence is and will always be in the hearts of the people he touched.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Gabriela; daughter, Haley and son, John, of Brighton; brothers, Tom of West Palm Beach, FL, Russell of Eaton, CO, and Marc from Willis, TX; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
