Jeffrey M. Hartman, 52, of Ottawa, formerly of Annawan, Illinois, died March 27th, at the University of Chicago Medical Center, following an 11 month battle with cancer.

Jeff was born on November 12, 1962, in Geneseo, to Kenneth and Doris (Van Vooren) Hartman. He was a 1980 graduate of Annawan High School, Black Hawk Jr. College, and received his B.S. in Ag. Finance from Western Illinois University in 1984. He married Janet Van De Voorde on May 26, 1990, at Sacred Heart Church in Annawan. Jeff was the County Manager of the LaSalle County Farm Bureau for the past 20 years.

Prior to that, he was the County Manager of the Warren-Henderson Counties Farm Bureau, and the Clark County Farm Bureau. Jeff recently celebrated his 30th anniversary of joining the Farm Bureau family. He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Ottawa, he had served on the board of the United Way of Eastern LaSalle County, and as the manager of the 4-H Fair in LaSalle County. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity at WIU. He was active as a coach for Ottawa Youth Football and Ottawa National Little League.

He served on the Ottawa Economic Development Committee, and the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Council for LaSalle County. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, and University of Illinois Football, and Basketball, and was the Head Tailgate Planner for the U of I /Hartman Football Game. However, family time spent with Janet, Alex and Blake were his first priorities. Jeff had a contagious smile and laugh. He is survived by his wife Janet, two sons, Alex and Blake, of Ottawa, three sisters, Janet (Tom) Haines of Aledo, Julie (John) Verbeck Garrett, of Annawan, and Jean (Jack) Seyller, of Moline; two brothers, Jim (Becky) Hartman, of Leroy, and John (Jackie) Hartman, of Springfield, and his mother-in-law, Roberta Van De Voorde of Annawan. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Jay, his father-in-law, Howard Van De Voorde, a brother-in-law, LeRoy Verbeck, and his nephew, Joel Hartman.
