Jeffrey Lynn Stewart is now in the arms of the Lord Jesus Christ. He passed from this world on Friday, August 6, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Jeffrey was born November 15, 1960 in Fort Worth, Texas. He grew up in Arlington, Texas and graduated from Lamar High School. He received his bachelor and law degrees from Baylor University. In 1988 he married the love of his life, Joy Groen Stewart. Jeff and Joy raised their 2 sons in Arlington until 2010, when he pursued an opportunity in the San Antonio area and moved the family to what he considered the best little town in Texas, Boerne.

Jeff was first and foremost a servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. He looked for divine appointments each and every day to share his faith with others. He was a deacon at both First Baptist Church Arlington and Boerne, sang in choir, men’s ensembles, and served on many committees. Jeff was uniquely gifted with teaching sixth grade boys and did so for thirty years. He is fondly remembered as the “Dr Pepper Guy” and took his students on many trips to the Dublin Dr Pepper plant. Just two weeks before his homecoming, he spent a week at youth camp in Colorado, planting seeds for the future.

Next to his faith, family was the most important thing in his life. Jeff thoroughly enjoyed attending his children’s events. Vacations were a highlight of their year. They enjoyed the mountains, beach and cruises. He loved his boys and taught them to love Jesus. His most recent joy was being a Papa to his first grandchild.

Jeff never met a stranger and rarely an unkind word left his mouth. He was a person everyone wanted to be friends with because he was truly kind and loyal. If Jeff wanted to get to know you, he would ask you to go to lunch. He always knew the best restaurants in every city and was considered a friend by many restaurant owners locally. His men’s bible study groups in both Arlington and Boerne meant the world to him. He considered those men the brothers he never had.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father Delane Stewart, his stepfather Carl Fluke and his grandparents. He is survived by his wife Joy; his two sons Alex (Camryn) and Josh; his grandson Bentley; his mother Nevada Stewart Fluke; his sister and brother in-law Julie and Dan Ballenger; his brother in-law Jeff Groen; his nephew Tyler Ballenger; and his niece Cameron Collins (JD).

We will have Dr Pepper Hour Friday, August 13, 2021 from 7:00-8:30 PM at the Galley at the Hub at First Baptist Church Boerne.
