Jeannette L. Toney, of Pendleton, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2020 at her residence.

She was born on October 31, 1928 in Elwood, Indiana to Margaret and Leroy Ballard. Jeannette graduated from Wendell Wilkie High School in 1946 . She was an executive secretary and office manager for United Way of Madison County for 24 years. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association, Century and a Half Club, Fall Creek Christian Church, and volunteered for Contact Help and Operation Love for many years. She loved birds, reading, walking, her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She also loved walking her dogs.

Jeannette is survived by her loving daughters, Lana Wardwell Barton of Pendleton, IN, Cathy (Clete) Wardwell Brown of Anderson, IN, Carolyn (Kevin) Toney Fann of Port Saint Lucie, FL, and Jennifer Toney Sterling of Winter Park, FL; daughter-in-law, Paula Berry Wardwell of Anderson, IN; grandchildren, Jason Barton, D.J. Barton, Mike Wardwell, Dennis Wardwell, Andrew Daugherty, Patrick Daugherty, Chris Wardwell, Charlotte Wardwell Buckley, Alana Daugherty, Jacob Thomas, Elijah Thomas, Erica Sterling; 21 great-grandchildren, and also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by son, Howard “Bud” Edward Wardwell, and her parents; and siblings, Howard Ballard, Edward Ballard, Patricia Jackson, Margaret Durr, Robert Ballard, Lula Kelly, and her infant brother Thomas Ballard.
