Jeannette (Jean) Cooper Tarry passed away December 30, 2016 in Albuquerque, NM. A resident of New Mexico for the past 28 years, she was born on May 25, 1922 in Kansas City, KS. At age 19, she married Charles Tarry on December 5, 1941. Two days later was Pearl Harbor and her husband spent the next four years in the U.S. Navy. After the war, they had two children, settling in Mulvane, KS to raise their family and develop life-long friendships. Jean later went on to have a career in real estate and in advertising sales for small-town newspapers. After her husband died suddenly of a heart attack in 1982, Jean migrated to New Mexico where her daughter lived.
Once in Albuquerque, she fell in love with her newly adopted state and thrived with activities at the city’s senior citizen centers, especially ballroom dancing. She met George Hobart of Roswell in 1992 and they remained dance partners and world travelers until George’s death this past May. She moved to Encino Gardens in the early 1990s and met many dear friends and fellow pinochle card players there.
