Jeanne Martine Sobel, 94, of Stratford, devoted wife of the late Harold Sobel for 67 years, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2022 at Lord Chamberlain in Stratford. Jeanne was born in Bridgeport Hospital on March 14, 1928 and raised in the Long Hill section of Trumbull. She was a legal secretary for many years, both before she met Harold and in working for him once her children were grown. Jeanne and Harold made their home and raised their family in Trumbull, later moving to Shelton, and then moving to Clearwater, Florida on Harold’s retirement in 1990. They enjoyed many years in Clearwater and moved back to Connecticut in 2005 to be close to family. Jeanne was an avid tennis player, golfer, and bridge player. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, surprising her caregivers at Lord Chamberlain as to how far into the progression of her Alzheimer’s disease that she was able to fill in words on the puzzles. Jeanne was a loving mother to her children, Paul Sobel (Donna), Adrienne Daniels (Edward), Philip Sobel (Carol), and Sara Gracey (Jack), as well as a proud “Nonnie” to her grandchildren, Kenneth and Stephen Sobel, Craig and Adam Daniels and Erica Daniels Seebeck, Nicholas, Andrew, and Olivia Sobel, and Ashley Bird Wright and Darren Bird, and her great grandchildren, Cayla, Harper, Charlotte, and Layla. Jeanne was predeceased by her siblings, Charlotte Martine, Barbara Joslin, and Carol Barnes.
