Jeanne C. Vaughn of Moscow died Monday, April 13, 2015 at Pullman Regional Hospital. She was 91. Jeanne was born March 15, 1924 in Pocatello, Idaho to Leroy and Muriel Lathrop Ruggles. She grew up and attended school there, graduating from Pocatello High School. She then attended Idaho State College (now University). She married Harry W. Vaughn on December 24, 1943 at Watsonville, California. Harry was serving in the Air Force as a pilot during WWII and when his plane went down, was captured as a POW. Upon his release and discharge from the Air Force, the couple moved to Pullman where he enrolled in veterinary school. Jeanne was a homemaker and stayed home to raise their three children. Jeanne went to work as a bookkeeper for Plumbers Lumber and Paint in Potlatch for 15 years. She then accepted a position as secretary and office manager for Dahmen Insurance Agency in Moscow for the next 32 years. After the agency became a part of AIA Insurance, she continued to stay on, retiring at the age of 85 in 2009. Jeanne joined the Order of Eastern Star in Pocatello, later transferring to Potlatch Chapter #48 in Potlatch in 1953 where she served in all offices including Worthy Matron and organist, culminating 72 years as a devoted member of Eastern Star. She was a charter member of Bowlerama in Moscow, bowling for many years and winning numerous trophies and was named “Bowler of the Year.” She also enjoyed playing bridge, quilting, cross stitch, and especially family events.
