Jeanette M Curry, 80, Tampa, formerly of Salem passed away on Tuesday, March 26th, 2013. Jeanette was a beautiful and caring woman whose looks always belied her age. She was a wonderful, loving mother, wife, and grandmother. Above all, she was a Christian who loved the Lord. Jeanette was born the second child of Robert and Pauline (Haskins) McDonald on October 27, 1932 in Salem, WV. Her much-loved sister, Dorothy passed away after a battle with cancer in 1982. She will be greatly missed and loved forever by her husband of 57 years, Ancel; daughter, Cheryl (Ken Ohashi); sons, Aaron (Tracey) and Bryan (Ann); cherished grandchildren – Kevin, Jennifer, Taizo, Erin, Rachel, Patrick, Riley Ann, Sebastian, Jack, Sarah, Jerrie Ann, Dominic, Peter, and Hayden; as well as her treasured nieces Janet and Dianne Sperry. She graduated from Salem High School in 1950 and attended Salem College, where she met her husband. Jeanette then spent two years in New Jersey as a young wife while Ancel was in the U.S. Army, and then 43 years in northern Virginia, where they were blessed with three children who were the light of her life. After her children left home for college, Jeanette spent 15 years working for her church, coordinating ministries and serving as the church’s event planner.Jeanette developed a love for Ireland while working with a reconciliation ministry, Crossfire Trust, in Northern Ireland. She travelled to Ireland over a 15 year period, spending anywhere from 10 days to 6 weeks working with Catholic and Protestant children of Northern Ireland. In 2010, Jeanette went to Ireland for the last time with her youngest son to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Ministry. At the time of her death she had been planning a return to her beloved Ireland. Jeanette had a knack for beautifully decorating her home, so that it was warm and welcoming. Friends and family were often treated to delicious meals that were lovingly prepared, and a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. Due to popular demand from her children, Jeanette recently put together a cookbook of her favorite recipes.
