Jeanette Darlene Grimes, 73, of Newton died on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 10-11:30 a.m.
Jeanette, the daughter of Reno and Darlene (Jacobs) Rethmeier, was born on May 8, 1946 in Marshalltown. She grew up north of Newton and at the age of five met a boy named Dwight Grimes that lived just a short distance away. Jeanette graduated from Newton High School in 1964. While in high school and shortly after, Jeanette worked at Thomberts. On July 17, 1965 at the St.
Jeanette is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dwight Grimes of Newton; two children, Jared (Renae) Grimes of Altoona and Marcy (Brian) Streich of Kansas City, Missouri; her grandchildren, Savannah and Aiden Grimes and Brandon, Evan, and Jacob Streich; and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents.
