Jean Louise Metzen, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Hoehl) McConnell, was born on May 28, 1914 in Boone, Iowa. On November 26, 1932, Jean was united in marriage with Raymond Metzen in St. Joe, Iowa. She was a homemaker and she also worked in the Laundry Department at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona. Jean enjoyed her grandchildren, bowling, playing cards, cross words and fishing. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Bowling League, Card Clubs and the Senior Citizen Center.

Left to cherish Jean’s memory are her children, Raymond W. “Joe” (Carol) Metzen of Omro, Wisconsin, Phyllis (Bill) Robinson of Algona and Dale Lynn (Ken) Arndorfer of St. Benedict; daughter-in-law Marcia Kenne of Algona; 16 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond on June 14, 1981; son Francis “Whimp” Metzen; brothers, Donald, Lee, Francis and Joe McConnell; and sisters, Floy Neal, Mildred Beavens and Bernice Wiley.
