Jean Marian Andrews, 79, of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.
She was born June 3, 1937, in Wausau, WI, to Ervin and Evelyn Rajek Kage. She married Dean Andrews on June 9, 1956, in Decatur, and they recently celebrated 60 years together.
She is survived by her husband Dean; four children, Kathy of Naperville, and Kim, Karen and Jeff (Sandy), all of Jacksonville; one sister, Shirley Jansen of Marathon, WI; and one brother, Roger (Betty) Kage of Mosinee, WI.
Jean was a member of Church of Our Saviour. She attended St. John’s Parochial School in Edgar, WI, and was a 1955 graduate of Englewood High School in Madison, WI. She moved to Decatur, IL, with her employment and met her future husband, Dean. In 1959, they moved to Jacksonville. She was employed due to her accounting by Ralph Withee Associates and also with the Andrews family business, AACO, Inc.
In her early years, Jean was known for the many instruments she played, including the French horn, piano, flute and more. She had contributed to many organizations in her lifetime, and was involved with the Welcome Wagon in Granite City, Jacksonville PTA, the Altar and Rosary Society, Elks Emblem Club, M.S. Support Group, and was a Brownie Leader for her children.
Jean is most known and respected for her courageous battle against Multiple Sclerosis, which she was diagnosed with in 1989. She was a very strong and brave member of Passavant Hospital M.S. Group, and made many new friends with that association.
