Jean Leah Pettersen (Maedke) passed away peacefully on March 9, 2016 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Heaven has gained a wonderful servant with a smiling face and faithful, honorable heart.Jean was born February 23, 1936, in Antigo, Wisconsin, to Clarence and Esther Maedke and was the youngest of three children; all of whom preceded her in death. She lived and worked on her family’s farm. In 1958, she flew to Longview, Texas to visit with her brother and was introduced to the love of her life, Ralph Pettersen. She knew at the beginning, that they were meant to be together. This was God’s plan for her life. Two years later, June 4, 1960, they married in Antigo, Wisconsin. They made their home in many states, beginning in New York. They relocated to a handful of states over the years eventually settling in Tennessee to be near their children and grandchildren.Jean is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ralph Pettersen; daughter and son in law, Joy and Kyle Howell of Knoxville, Tennessee; daughter Janice Howell of Franklin, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, and 10 great-grandchildren.Jean has always been dedicated to the Lord. Her family growing up were members of Forest View Chapel where her dad taught Bible lessons and her mom taught Sunday School and played the organ. In every chapter of her life, she was a witness to those who knew her. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She could bring hope out of sorrow, strength out of weakness and laughter out of tears. Her attitude and manner of living was a true example of her relationship with the Lord. She seldom was angry instead being quiet, forgiving and patient.
