She died at 7:10 am Saturday March 31, 2012 at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.
She was born on February 11, 1936 in Hardin Co to Hallie and Georgianna (Burdett) Hines. On August 16, 1952 she married Carl Southward and he survives in Dunkirk.
Also surviving is a daughter Nancy (Tom) Matson of Dola, a son Mark (Vicki) Southward of Dunkirk, four grandchildren Brian (Jackie) Matson, Justin (Jennifer) Matson, Amanda (Joe) Morrison, and Blake (Abby) Southward, and a great grandchild Logan Matson.
She was preceded in death by a son Michael Lee Southward and a brother Russell Hines.
Jean attended Forest High School and graduated from Bowling Green University in 1974. She taught Headstart for 10 years and then she retired from Riverdale elementary in Forest teaching for 23 years. After retiring Jean along with her husband Carl spent thirteen years traveling.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
