Jean C. Imboden, 87, of Jacksonville, died Monday, August 18, 2008, at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.

She was born February 26, 1921, in Jacksonville, the daughter of John B. and Kathleen Walsh Coonen. She married William H. Imboden, Jr. on May 26, 1947, in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1990.

She is survived by two sons, William H. Imboden, III (wife, Mary) and Mark A. Imboden (wife, Susan), and one grandson, Connor Imboden, all of Jacksonville; two sisters, Claire Coonen and Paula Coonen, both of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Coonen (surviving wife, Marie of Franklin) and one sister in infancy.

Mrs. Imboden was a 1939 graduate of Routt High School and a 1943 graduate of MacMurray College. She then received her Master’s Degree from Columbia University in New York and began her career as a teacher at Illinois School for the Deaf, retiring after forty years. She was a member of Church of Our Saviour and was active with Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar and Rosary Society. She had also been active with the MacMurray Alumni Association. She enjoyed reading, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandson.
