Jean Cameron Baggerman October 31, 1916 – June 10, 2014, Jean, age 97, passed away after a brief illness at The Springs at Bronson Place in Kalamazoo, MI. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of William John and Eleanor Maud Cameron.

She attended Michigan State University where she received her bachelor’s degree in 1939. Jean was a certified teacher and taught kindergarten prior to her marriage to Frederick Peters Baggerman on August 15, 1942. She and Fred were married for 70 years, until his death in 2013. They had four children: Peter Paula Baggerman of Pittsburgh, PA; John Kathy Baggerman of Lexington, KY; David Linda Baggerman of Canon City, CO; and Mary Philip Johnson Baggerman of Kalamazoo, MI; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren all of whom survive.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John Cameron and Donald Cameron; and her sister, Marian Brown. Jean and Fred moved to Kalamazoo, MI twenty years ago to be near family. They also resided in Ann Arbor, Detroit, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and St Louis. Jean was a quiet person whose life centered around her family and close friends. She will be remembered for her compassion and kindness, her sense of fairness, and her determination to lead a simple life, focused on things that were important to her.

In addition to her family, she had a passionate love of art, literature, and traveling. She enjoyed nature and animals. Jean took time to pursue her own interests in ways that enhanced her own life and the lives of those around her. She had a quiet sense of humor and a deep sense of gratitude that was appreciated by all who knew her.
