Jean B. Lane, 89 of Lavallette, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday July 15, 2018 in her home. Jean was born in Newark, NJ and moved to Lavallette in 1966. She worked as an office manager for S. Klein in Newark, and then Advance Publishing Systems in Lavallette. She is fondly remembered as the Lavallette School crossing guard, Police matron for many years, and was an active member of the Ladies First Aid Auxiliary and Ocean County Juvenile Conference Committee. Jean was affectionately known as Lavallette’s Candy Apple Witch, as she served 200+ candied apples every Halloween to trick-or-treaters.
Jean is predeceased by her parents William and Ruth Flohs and her husband Roy D Lane. Surviving are her sister Dolores Bell and husband John of Vineland, her children: Robert Lane of Toms River, Melody Lane-Smith of Bayville, Maureen Lane-Matthews of Lavallette, and Barbara J. Gebler of Island Heights and her 6 grandchildren: Alexis Lehmann, Jacqueline Lane, Sara Chatman, Amber Smith, Tyler Gebler, and Emily Matthews, as well as 6 great grandchildren.
