BARTHOLOMEW, Jayne passed away peacefully at Rose Arbor Hospice with her sons by her side. Jayne was born June 20, 1920, the daughter of Leslie and Belle Madden Smith in Marshall, Michigan.

Jayne attended Western State Teachers College where she studied education. While at a school dance, she met Ken Bartholomew and they were united in marriage on August 14, 1942, in Quantico, VA. Following the birth of her sons, Jayne accepted a position in the business services department at Western Michigan University. In 1965, she began working at the Upjohn Institute in the library. While Jayne retired in June of 1985, she continued to provide proofreading services to the Institute from 1992-1999. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. In her younger years, Jayne painted beautiful flower designs on plain pieces of china thus making them treasured heirlooms for her family. She delighted in walking on the beaches in South Haven often stopping to retrieve interesting stones and shells to add to her collection. Jayne enjoyed reading and working in the yard, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family.

Jayne was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth, Sr., her parents, and her sister, Marie.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Jeanine Bartholomew, Jr., of Paw Paw, Michigan, and Patrick Jo-Anne Bartholomew of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; 3 grandsons, Todd Dana Bartholomew, Christopher Beverly Bartholomew, and Tyler Bartholomew; and 2 great-grandsons, Zachary Bartholomew and Tyler Kessler.
