Jaye Williams McKoy, of Newnan, died December 15, 2007 at DeKalb Medical Center. Jaye was a native of Newnan, having been born here on September 25, 1954. She was the daughter of O. C. Williams, Jr. and Shirley Ann Gordon Williams. Her mother preceded her in death. Jaye’s life was one of dedicated commitments to causes she felt were important to her family and community.

At the time of her illness, she was the registrar for Madras Middle School. She had the distinction of being the first woman to be an active volunteer for the Coweta County Volunteer fire department; a position she held for ten years. Her deep convictions concerning scouting led her to attain a Doctorate Commissioner of Science for The Boy Scouts of America during the time she was affiliated with Troop 42. Her church membership was with Lovejoy United Methodist Church. Jaye also honored the heritage of the Lakota Sioux culture. In addition to her father, O. C. Williams, Jr., Jaye is survived by her husband, Jimmy H. McKoy; her son, A. Scott McKoy and Scott’s fiancé, Shawna Lea Johnson.
