Jaxon James Whitebird, 13 years young, of Cass Lake, Minnesota and the Mukwa Clan journeyed to the spirit world on Friday, June 21st, 2019.  He was born on November 16th, 2005, in Bemidji, MN to Candice Rae Jackson Whitebird and David James Whitebird, Jr.

Jaxon loved sports.  He began playing basketball at the Boys and Girls Club under Coach Gil Zamora with their team called Ojibwe Thunder, they traveled many times to the Minneapolis area to compete in many tournaments.  He later went on to play with the Leech Lakers Basketball program under Roman Brown, Joe Fowler and Jon Staples.  This last year he finished as a 7th grade Cass Lake-Bena Panther under Randy Johnsrud.  Jaxon was an excellent athlete who also participated in the Cass Lake-Bena football, baseball and track and field programs.  Most importantly, Jaxon loved all of his family dearly.

He is welcomed to the spirit world by his grandfathers; David Whitebird, Sr., Tim St. John and Lavern “Cubby” Smith and brother; Raymond Kraskey.

Jaxon is survived by his parents; Candice Jackson Whitebird, David Whitebird, Jr., Cindy Jackson Kingbird and Will Kingbird, Sr., grandmothers; Patty Jackson, Linda Jane Butcher, Louise Jackson and Viola Kingbird, brothers; Kingsly Whitebird, Dedric Jackson, Andrew Kingbird, Will Kingbird, Jr., Gabriel Kingbird, Dakota Jackson, Jared Jackson and Tyrell Jackson, sisters; Taneisha Kraskey, Tia Rae Jackson, Deja Whitebird, Ahrayah Whitebird, Taryn Kingbird, Sunshyne Kingbird, Talecia Jackson, Shanielle Jackson, Tyra Dunn and Tyarra Jackson, nieces; Skyleigh Kraskey and Kambri Kingbird, nephews; Jacian and Armani Kraskey, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
