Jason Lieland Black, age 47, of Palatka, died Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following an extended illness. He was a native of St. Augustine and had lived in Palatka most of his life. Jason was a member of Francis Baptist Church and had worked as an automobile mechanic with Beck Family Auto. He had also worked with Gautney’s in Palatka as well as a carpet installer. He had attended MMI (Motorcycle Mechanics Institute) in Orlando and in his leisure enjoyed fishing, wakeboarding, shooting pool, and riding his motorcycle.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Rick Black.
Jason is survived by his companion, Melissa Treadwell of Orlando; father and stepmother, George H. Black and Laura Black of Palatka; mother and step-father, Trudie “TJ” Ducker & Dave Ducker of Sylva, North Carolina; a son, Dawson Black & wife, Brandi of Jacksonville, N.C.; 3 Step-children, Micholas Dunnigan of Franklin, N.C., Whitney Rogers of St. Augustine and Michaela Harris of Palatka; 2 step-sisters, Sara Ducker and Jennifer Ducker, both of Orlando; Step-brother, Patrick Ducker & wife, Heather of Sylva, N.C.; 3 step-grandchildren, an aunt, 2 cousins, a niece, Nikki Cech & husband, Timothy, and a nephew, Steven Bane.
