Jason Hanchett, age 55 of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, formerly of Algona, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Jason Granger Hanchett, the son of James and Jody (Colburn) Hanchett, was born on August 8, 1965 in Panorama City, California. He graduated from San Ramon Valley High School in Danville, California in 1983. After graduation, Jason attended Wyo Tech in Wyoming for one year. On June 6, 1992, Jason was united into marriage to Lori Lappin at Call State Park in Algona. Five years ago, the couple moved to Mountain Lake, Minnesota where Jason worked as an Auto Body Mechanic at LB Customs. Jason was a member of the Rocky Mountain Search & Rescue and Brownsville Fire Department in Brownsville, Colorado. He was a Jack of All Trades and could fix anything. Jason is survived by his wife of 28 years, Lori of Mountain Lake, Minnesota; daughters, Kara Remy of Algona and Nicki (Ray) Roof of Algona; grandchildren, Alex Remy, Aliyah Buscher, Chase Roof and Ruby Roof; mother, Jody Owen of Broomfield, CO; siblings, Matt (Laura) Owen of Mead, CO and their children Aiden and Lily, Daniel Owen of Silver Plume, CO and Katie (Brian) Klem of Chicago, IL and step-mother, Dottie Hanchett. He was preceeded in death by his father, James Hanchett, sister, Janet Hanchett and step-father, Felix Owen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Jason Hanchett Memorial Fund at Security State Bank in Algona.
