Jared Carl Christensen, 42, of Overland Park, KS, formerly of Spirit Lake passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at his home in Kansas City.
Jared was born on October 9, 1976, in Des Moines, IA to Roger and Vicky (Hendricks) Christensen. He graduated from Spirit Lake High School and was awarded a scholarship to play football at Iowa Central Community College. After Iowa Central Jared attended and graduated from L’Ecole Culinaire-Kansas City. Jared was united in marriage to Molly Hickey on June 3, 2000, and to this union were born two daughters, Morgan Jean and Skylar Ann. In July of 2014, Jared reunited with his high school sweetheart, Kellie McDonough, and together they lived in Kansas City with their dog, Buddy. Jared was a member of the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. He was known for his creativity when it came to cooking, pranks, and his quick-witted mentality. Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Morgan and Skylar Christensen of Kansas City, MO; parents Roger and Vicky Christensen of Okoboji; Kellie McDonough of Overland Park, KS. Brother Jason (Amber) Christensen of Arnolds Park; sister Jodi (Jayson) Wollmuth of Okoboji. Nephews; Blake, Cody, Dallas Poock, and Camden Christensen. Nieces; Allison, Brooke and Natalie Wollmuth, and Logan Christensen.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Wilbur and Katherine Hendricks. And his paternal grandparents, Shorty and Kathryn Christensen.
