Janie Pence Dunlap Williams, 83, of 336 East Church Street, Troutman died Tuesday, May 18th 2010 at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Born in Scotland County, Wagram, NC on November 12, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Samuel H. and Janie Pence Dunlap.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Troutman. She served as President of the Women of the Church, Sunday school teacher, choir director, and also as a member of the Lillie Ervin Circle. She was a former member of the George M. Young Chapter 305 of the Eastern Star of Troutman.

A 1945 graduate of Flora McDonald College, she moved to Iredell County in 1950, where she taught for 30 years in the Iredell School System (at Troutman School and South Iredell High School).

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Alfred Williams, her sister Mary D. McLean, and her brothers, Tom Dunlap of Wagram, NC and Sam Dunlap of Charlotte, NC.

She is survived by her son, James “Jim” Alfred Williams Jr. (Nan) of Troutman; two daughters, Laura W. McLeod (Mike) of Hampstead and Harriet W. Golden (David) of Fairfax, VA; 12 grandchildren, Mattie, Mack and Sam Williams of Troutman, Jenny M. Edwards (Scott) of Wilmington, NC, George T. McLeod (Jennifer) of Newbury Park, CA, Mary M. Fischer (Jacob) of Maryland Heights, MO, D. Alex McLeod (Heidi) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, J. Brad McLeod (Megan) of Rexburg, ID, Kathleen McLeod of Hampstead, NC, Amy Golden of South Africa, Captain Mark Golden, USAF, of Mountain Home, ID and Sally Golden of Fairfax, VA; 10 great grandchildren; and a brother, Dr. Benjamin E. Dunlap (Suzanne) of Statesville.
