Mrs. Janice Setzer Pickler, 79, passed away Monday, October 19, 2020 at home with her family surrounding her.
Janice was born in Catawba County, NC on April 10, 1941, daughter to the late Grady and Ruth Hass Setzer. She attended school in Red Springs and graduated from Hoke County High School. Janice was a member of the Raeford First Baptist Church and a former member of Ashley Heights Baptist Church where she served as a Choir Member, Finance Committee Chairman and served on the Pastor Search Committee. She also served as President, Secretary and Treasurer of Woman’s Missionary Union, past President of Aberdeen Gardenettes, a member of the Raeford Women’s Club Garden Department and volunteered for Raeford-Hoke Museum. She retired in 2014 as an office administrator with Pinehurst Surgery Center.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Pickler, a son, John D. Pickler III, a daughter, Lori Pickler Schell and a brother, Bob Setzer.
Mrs. Pickler is survived by her son, Reggie Pickler and wife Stephanie of Raeford; a daughter, Janine P. Garrison and husband Randy of Pinehurst; six grandchildren, Megan Croom of Leland, Johnathan Pickler of Rocky Mount, Melissa P. Crull and husband Rob of Fayetteville, Lauren G. Dull and husband Richard of Pinehurst, Katy Schell of Union, Kentucky, Kelly Wainscott of Greensboro and 9 great grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn S. Inman and husband Richard of Raeford and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
