Janice “Jan” Kienas, 79, returned to her heavenly home on February 21, 2016 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born January 20th, 1934 to Christopher and Elizabeth Hansen of North St Paul, Minnesota. She attended local schools in the area and graduated from River Forest Teacher’s College in 1959 and accepted a call to serve at Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Kalispell Montana. Once in Kalispell, she started playing the organ and did so for the next 57 years. Her love of music guided her to directing the English hand bell choir. While remaining a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, she served on numerous boards; made Lutheran world relief quilts; was part of LWML, Bible Study Fellowship, the Lay ministry and any other areas she was lead to serve. She was married to Arnold Kienas in 1961 and lived on the family dairy farm for 10 years. After Arnold’s passing, she moved to a “mini farm” and took up gardening. Her love for planting and soil grew into a commercial business for vegetables and some fruit.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Christopher and Elizabeth Hansen; and her husband of 6 years, Arnold Kienas.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Kienas and husband Jeff Dykes; Her granddaughter Cassie Bucher and Fiancé Richard Mock; Her grandson Michael Graham, and her great grandsons Dane and Kail Mock; as well as, an abundance of others who simply called her Grandma. She will be greatly missed in all aspects of our lives. She was a very special woman whose love, care, and show of faith will be cherished.
