Janice Christensen, age 74, of Algona died on Saturday November 21, 2015 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center. Janice Faye Christensen was born on April 27, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lillian Bartek. Janice grew up in Crystal Lake and attended Crystal Lake Schools.
She was united in marriage to LuVerne Hanson and to the union six children were born. The marriage was later dissolved. Janice was united in marriage to Jerry Christensen and that marriage was later dissolved. Janice took on her lifelong job at the Algona Good Samaritan Society. Janice worked there for 36 years and retired in 2006. She also worked for Cargo Express. Janice was a giving person who enjoyed gardening, but her favorite passion in life was spending time with her family especially decorating for the Holidays and cooking family meals.
She was a hardworking and devoted mother to her children and they will forever cherish her. Left to cherish Janice’s memory are her daughters, Toni (Virgil) Krug of Algona, Patsy (Gene) Pavelka of Britt, Becky (Lyle) Hanson of Algona and Bobbie (Mark) Hatlestad of Malcom; sons, Mark Hanson of Algona and Shawn (Gayle) Hanson of Dexter; eleven grandchildren, Sara, Amber, Tyler, Mariah, Logan, Steven, Aaron, Franklin, Amanda, Megan and Jared; four great grandchildren, Jordan, Mary Grace, Calin and Judah along with other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian; step-father, Steve Kadlecik; half-brother, Larry Kadlecik and half-sister, Sharon Johnson.
