Anna Janet Ducommun, age 88, of Midland, passed away Thursday morning January 10, 2019 at Stratford Pines in Midland. The daughter of the late Joe R. and Helen E. (McIntosh) Cain, was born on July 14, 1930 in Kokomo, Indiana where she was raised and educated.

She was active in Scouting, church activities, and was editor of her high school newspaper. Janet was valedictorian of her high school class and went on to graduate from DePauw University with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. While at DePauw, she met and married the love of her life, Dale Jesse Ducommun. Janet taught elementary school until they started a family of their own.

She was a devoted wife and mother, and stayed active by teaching Sunday School, volunteering at school, girl scouts and at First United Methodist Church, where she was a longtime member. She was a past president of Medical Auxiliary and an active member of the PEO Sisterhood. Her sweet spirit, warm smile, and positive attitude will be greatly missed by all of those who loved her.

Surviving is her husband of 67 years, Dale J. Ducommun of whom she married on June 16, 1951 in Kokomo, IN; daughters, Karen (Tom) Morrell of Traverse City, Jean (Bob) Carle of Ft. Worth, Texas; son, Mark (Tina) Ducommun of Traverse City; grandchildren, Bethany & Kelsey Carle, Kaylyn Ducommun; great grandchildren, Jennica, Adelina and Violetta; sister, Nancy (Stanley) Matheny of Huntington, Indiana, and many nieces and nephews.
