Janet Charleen Akers Pigg Jenkins, 74, of Terre Haute, Indiana, went to be with our Lord, September 23, 2015, at home surrounded by her family.
She was born October 15, 1940, in Terre Haute, Indiana. The youngest daughter of Charles Monroe Akers and Lutella (McCoy) Akers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leon Akers of Phoenix, Arizona; first husband, Larry Dean Pigg; and a son, Jimmy Pigg.
Survivors include her loving husband, James V. Jenkins of Terre Haute whom she married on June 6, 1997; son, Steve (Krissy Gilbert) Pigg of Davis, CA; daughters, Sheri (David) Tetidrick of Brazil, IN and Janine (Rick) Worley of Ft Lauderdale, FL. Stepsons, Dennis (Sharon) Stewart ; Duane (Carolyn), Dean, and Dusty (Terri) Jenkins of Terre Haute; stepdaughter, Sandra Conrad of Crawfordsville, Indiana; grandchildren Joshua (Leah), Jacob (Kelly) and James Tetidrick, Finneas Gilbert-Pigg, Tim (Amy) Stewart, Naomi (Bill) Querner, Joshua, Megan, Danielle, Clinton, Travis, Ryan, and Steven Jenkins; great grandchildren Braelyn, Hayven, Lillyan, Riley, Lucy, Jessa, Kayzlee, Karma, Leanna, Courtney, Ryleigh, Maxton, Sawyer, Kylie, and Jayden; sisters, Margaret Hayes, Doyne Perdue and sisters-in-law, Alma Akers, Betty (Pigg) Edmonson, Joann (Pigg) Childers, Trina (Pigg) Huey, Nancy (Pigg) Holton, Wilma (Jenkins) Roman, Susie (Jenkins) Hammons, Margaret (Jenkins) Lee and Jan Jenkins; brothers-in-law, Robert (Doris) Pigg, Denman (Kathy) Pigg, Jack (Myrna) Pigg, and Tony (Judy) Jenkins.
Janet was a founding member of New Life Fellowship where she served in many roles over the years. She was an active member of the Vigo County Republican Party and was elected as Otter Creek Township Advisory Board Secretary until she resigned for health reasons in 2014.
