Jane P. Rose peacefully passed away on March 2. Born in Sioux City, IA May 11, 1916, she moved to Grosse Ile, MI in 1946 with her husband, John L. Rose. They lived in numerous residences on Grosse Ile until two years ago when she entered assisted living in Brownstown, MI. A longtime member of Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club, she joined shortly after watching, from her front window, the clubhouse burn down. She enjoyed golf, bowling, knitting and playing bridge. Jane was active in the community; served on the Township Planning Commission, helped in Elementary classrooms and thoroughly enjoyed watching the high school girls’ basketball games. Most of all, she loved being a member of the Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church, of which she was a founding member. A homemaker, she was also in and out of clothing retail for many years, ending up with The Jane Rose Shop in Trenton and Flat Rock. Jane was preceded in death by her husband John L. Rose, brothers Walter, Alexander and Arturo Pelelo and sister Helen Coury. She is survived by two sons, John T. (Frances) Rose of Grosse Ile, Lawrence B. (Mary Lou) of Chagrin Falls, OH, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, sister Vera (John) Lanik of Yakima, WA and many nieces and nephews. Her generous and loving soul is now in Heaven playing bridge 24/7.
