Jane McClain, 83 of Centralia passed away Friday, October 10, 2014, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. Jane was born July 27, 1931, in Central City, the daughter of Rev. James Verle Clifton and Julia Helen (Sinclair) Clifton.

She married Ivan E. McClain on March 31, 1949, in Centralia and he preceded her in death on March 21, 1977.

She is survived by a daughter, Marsha Profancik and husband Alan of Centralia; four sons: Mike McClain and wife Karen of Centralia, Rick McClain and wife Tammy of Alton, Kevin McClain and wife Rhonda of Centralia and Jeff McClain and wife Jenifer of Centralia; 19 grandchildren: Alan Profancik and wife Sherry of Salem, Lori Profancik of Centralia, Jason Profancik and wife Tanya of Gulf Breese, FL, Jennifer Hasenfuss and husband Jeff of Knoxville, TN, Brian Profancik and wife Leslie of Carbondale, Juli Starr and husband Derrick of Centralia, Jayme O’Renic and Shane Mueller of Belleville, Gayla Correa of Normal, Chad Tyson of Afghanistan, Amanda Halley and husband Ben of St. Paul, Minnesota, Dr. Mike McClain of Norman, OK, Rick McClain and wife Kelly of Edwardsville, Ryan McClain and Jami Hinz of St. Louis, MO, Theresa Bounds of Rockford, Matt Rogers and Emily Stahl of Alton, Liz Rogers of Granite City, Drew McClain, Stephen McClain and Amber McClain all three of Centralia; 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren on the way; a sister: Toby Clifton of Las Vegas, NV; a brother, Jerry Clifton and wife Nina of Centralia; several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a great-grandson: James Bounds, three brothers: Ellis Clifton, Ernie Clifton, and Bob Clifton, two sisters: Thelma Eagan and Mary Lou Beckemeyer.

Jane was a servant of the Lord and she would open her heart to anyone. She worked at the Dress Factory, Hollywood Candy Factory, Wheaton’s and she did laundry. She helped with Shades, a teen club, from 1985 to 1990 and everyone called her mother McClain. She volunteered with the Prison Ministry in Centralia. Jane was a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the Orchardville Church Centralia Branch and she was known as Mother and Grandmother McClain. She enjoyed cooking, doing yard work, and flower gardening. Most of all she loved family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren She was born, lived for Jesus, and died to be with him. She had a passion to love people and left all she touched with the lasting effects of that love. Nanny was always there to counsel, pray and worship anyone in need of God’s touching spirit. All of her children knew that Mom had a direct line to Jesus and through her prayers kept her family strong and raised them to be God’s servants. Through her spiritual guidance to her family, her legacy will live on.
