Jane Marie Maple, 78, of Newton died on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Newton Healthcare.
Jane, the daughter of Harold and Lillian (Parker) Walker, was born on October 20, 1942 in Brooklyn. She grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from Brooklyn High School. Jane lived in Minnesota and California for a short time before returning to Iowa and making her home in Newton. Jane had worked at Juice n Junk, Cozad Cleaners, and MG Laundry. She was a long-time member of the CTL group. Jane loved collecting frogs and had thousands. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, and refinishing furniture.
Jane is survived by her four sons, Norman Maple of Newton, Brett Maple of Newton, Jeff (Eileen) Maple of Newton, and Eric Maple of Colfax; eight grandchildren, Heather Hanson, Alyssa Novac, Cami Maple, Reagan Maple, Riley Maple, Malloy (Tanner) Nearmyer, Marcus (Brooke) Maple, and Marshall Maple; and her seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; significant other, Larry Van Rees; granddaughter, Krystal Maple; and siblings, Robert Walker, Melvin Walker, Marjorie Cottrell, Barb Kalma, and Anabel Ballard.
