Jane Long Troy, 78, of Ridgefield, suddenly passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022. She was the loving wife of Michael Andres Troy. 

Jane was born in New Rochelle, NY on May 15, 1943. She was predeceased by her parents Ernest and Lois (Langley) Long and her brother Ernest Long. Jane grew up in Rockville Center, New York, and attended Clemson University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. While at Clemson she married Michael Andres Troy, her husband, of 58 years. Jane is survived by her husband, Michael, her sister, Harriet Latham, her two sons, Michael and Matthew, and their families, each of whom she loved with all her heart. 

For most of her professional life Jane was an educator. Over her career she taught math and science in five different states, dedicating her time to working with children who were underserved by the school systems in which she taught. Affectionately known as “Jungle” Jane by her students she advocated for them within and outside the classroom making sure they had access to all the resources a school could provide. 

A Ridgefield resident for nearly four decades, she donated countless hours over the past fifteen years along with her good friends to the Ridgefield Thrift Shop, a not for profit organization that donates all of its proceeds to charity.

Jane loved sports and followed the Clemson Tigers, the New York Yankees and the University of Connecticut Women’s basketball team. Along with many in the community, she used to pull for the New York Giants.
