Jane Gates Keach of West Hartford, Connecticut passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Jewish Senior Services Nursing Home in Bridgeport, was born on November 23, 1942 and was the daughter of the late Gustave John Eicholtzer and the late Mildred Ester Bennett Eicholtzer. Though Jane was a long-time resident of West Hartford, she had previously lived in Orange, Massachusetts; Manchester, East Hartford, and Hartford, Connecticut; and most recently lived at The Towers at Tower Lane in New Haven, Connecticut before transitioning to the Jewish Senior Services facility where she underwent rehabilitation. Jane graduated from Conard High School in 1960 and then attended The Hartford College for Women at the University of Hartford. Jane was married to the late Richard Leo Keach of Ocala, Florida from 1962 to 1994. Jane worked for AAA Automotive Club for over 20 years in member relations, where she made a positive impact on all who knew her. Prior to that, Jane was the manager of Connecticut Bank & Trust in Bishop’s Corner, West Hartford. She was a natural leader and endeared co-worker. Her interpersonal skills and her knowledge of banking led others to grow along with her. She rose early each day and brought to work an exuberance for learning even more in her chosen field. Jane was a successful businesswoman, owning and operating Mills Dress Shoppe in Orange, Massachusetts for several years while also becoming the president of the local business association. During retirement, Jane volunteered at the Connecticut Attorney General’s Office as well as managed The Retreat Assisted Living’s convenience store, South End Market. Her seven years living at The Retreat were filled with laughter, joy, and the feeling of fulfillment from making a difference in others’ lives. Jane was a member of the First Congregational Church of West Hartford for many years and was not only married there, but also attended regularly with her family. Most recently, she was a member of The Universalist Church of West Hartford along with her family. In her youth, Jane was an avid painter and had recently begun painting again.
