Jane Darlene Sueltman, 103, of Freeport, died Friday, March 11, 2011 at Freeport Rehabilitation & Care Center. Born October 24, 1907 – a lifelong resident of Freeport, Jane was the daughter of James R. and Maude (Clark) Hannah of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

She attended Freeport schools and married Arthur F. Sueltman August 23, 1927. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1974. The Sueltmans had one child, Betty Jane Trautwein, born November 8, 1931, who was killed in an auto accident April 20, 1968.

Jane worked 28 years at General Casualty Company before her retirement in 1972. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are her sister-in-law, Doris Hannah of Freeport; nephews, Terry R. (Joanna) Hannah of The Villages, Florida and Donn Hannah of San Jose, California; her great niece, Jennifer (Paul) Diaz of San Diego, California; great nephews, Bryan E. Mitchell of Higley, Arizona, Joey Hannah of Atlanta, Georgia and Dennis (Terry) Robinson of Studio City, California; her great great nephew, Ryan Diaz of San Diego, California; numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter; 5 brothers; and 4 sisters.

Jane was a member of Second Presbyterian Church where she participated as an officer of Presbyterian Women, a Deaconess, an offertory counter, meals-on-Wheels volunteer, and she taught Sunday school. Her memberships included, United Presbyterian Church, a 50 year member of The Order of the White Shrine, Scottish Rite Women’s Club, YWCA, Freeport Women’s Club, and the original ABWA Chapter.

She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, bridge, and other card games, knitting, and reading. Back in the 1930’s when Art and Jane were avid golfers Jane realized the dream of many players with a hole-in-one on the old Welty Golf Course in Freeport.

Jane had a special celebration for her 100th birthday with many friends from Freeport in attendance.Her health had been declining in subsequent years.
