James R. Walston, age 89, of Spirit Lake, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014, at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake. He was born on February 23, 1925, in Spirit Lake, to Clarence and Vera (White) Walston.
Jim graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1944. He moved to Westwood, California, and worked for Safeway Grocery Stores for many years. After he retired, Jim moved back to Spirit Lake, to enjoy his family. Jim enjoyed spending his spare time walking, dancing, listening to big band music and watching baseball and football. He truly enjoyed his time with his family.
Jim is survived by his brother, John Walston, and his wife, Shirley of Okoboji; nieces, Cindy Armstrong, and her husband, Tom of Cave Creek, Arizona, and Lisa Sharp, and her husband, Donald of Monticello, Minnesota; and nephew, John Waltson Jr. of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
