James W. Hartke, age 70, of Cassopolis, died peacefully Wednesday, July 4, 2018, in Cass County Medical Care Facility.
He was born August 11, 1947, in Dowagiac, Michigan, the youngest of three sons born to Raymond and Ruby Hartke.
Jim loved camping and fishing. He liked a good party and dancing. When he chased chickens with the tractor he would smile from ear to ear. His nieces and nephews remember him playing with them at the farm and deemed him “a great uncle.”
James will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by two brothers, Leonard Hartke, Sr. of Cassopolis, Robert (Carol) Hartke of Hastings, Michigan; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nancy Rae Hartke; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Hartke. The family wishes to thank all the many friends who cared for Jim throughout his life.
