James V. Zimmerman, age 94, of Salem, died at 5:33 p.m. at the Salem Regional Medical Center. He was born March 12, 1922 in Salem, Ohio, the son of the late Willis J. and Rowena A. (Whinery) Zimmerman.
He attended Salem High School. He was self-employed dairy farmer. He was a member of the Holy Trinity English Lutheran Church, Columbiana County Jersey Cattle Club, County Farm Bureau, and a gold Sheaf member of Salem-Butler Grange, Pomana, State, National Dairy Shrine, and National Granges, and a charter member of Winona Ruritan Club in May 1956 where he held perfect attendance for many years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII.
His wife, Janet Louise (Whinnery) Zimmerman, whom he married January 15, 1947, preceded him in death September 21, 2012; and a sister, Wanda Mercer also preceded him in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Judith (Glen) Herron of Salem, Peggy Zimmerman of Salem, Amy Zimmerman of Salem; 1 son, Wade Zimmerman of Salem; 1 sister, Lois (Lester) Davis of Salem; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
