James Thomas (Tom, Tommy) Wright passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at his residence in Villa Rica. He was born in Hogansville, Georgia on December 1, 1948, the son of the late Claude T. Wright and the late Nettie Wright Brooks.
Mr. Wright, a Vietnam veteran, retired from the U. S. Air Force as a Sergeant after 24 years. Never one to sit around, Tom continued working with his hands as a security system installer and later with Air Services, Inc. at The West Georgia Regional Airport. When rheumatoid arthritis took away his ability to work on aircraft and cars, Tom focused on his other talents as a movie buff, a chauffeur for his grandchildren, a used car finder, and a friend. He’s always ready for laughter and his affinity for jokes made him loved by many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Aimee; son, James Thomas Wright, Jr who was known by all as “J”; a sister, Becky Brooks, and his step-father, Walter Brooks.
He is survived by his wife Teresa Warren Wright; his daughter Amanda Wright; grandchildren Ashley Wright and Hayden Minter. He is also survived by his sisters Evelyn Hines and her husband Steve and Nancy Williamson and her husband Frankie. There is an extended family of nieces and nephews.
