James Thomas Metzgar, 75, of Beloit, died at 4:35 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Salem Regional Medical Center. He was born in Salem, May 2, 1939 the son of the late John W. and Lena M. (Cozart) Metzgar. He was a 1958 graduate of Salem High School and a Tool and Die Maker at General Motors in Lordstown. He was a member of the Community Bible Church of Westville, Salem Elks Lodge #305 and Salem Independent Hose Company of Salem. He loved to golf and fish. He was in the US Army from 1958-1961. He especially loved watching his grandchildren participating in their sporting events. Survivors include his wife Mary Belle (Early) Metzgar whom he married on November 5, 1961; Three sons, Dale (Lisa) Metzgar of Smithfield, Kentucky, Jeff (Ginger) Metzgar of Salem, Mark (Brenda) Metzgar of Beloit; One sister, Jackie Wood of Hanoverton, Ohio; four brothers, John Metzgar of Lisbon, Gary (Rose) Metzgar of Lisbon, Ken (Rosemary) of Salem, and Gene “Moe” (Chris) Metzgar of Salem; Six grandchildren, Amber (Drew), Amy, Matt, Catie, Logan and Shyann. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Ann “Sally” Stiffler, Dolores Nutter and Patricia Myers; 4 brothers, Ray, Robert, Richard and Dave Metzgar.
