James “Shorty” Reynolds, 90, of Flemingsburg passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013 at University of Kentucky Hospital.

He was born September 8, 1922 in Lewis County to the late Heber and Anna Reynolds. Shorty was a master carpenter and was well known throughout the area for his wood-working and home building expertise. Shorty was a decorated World War II veteran serving in Patton’s Third Army and storming the beaches of Normandy as well as serving in the Battle of the Bulge. His valiant efforts in those battles earned him a Bronze Star as well as Citations for Bravery .

He was preceded in death by his wife, Aleta Hunt Reynolds, his daughter and pride and joy, Judy Story, and brothers and sisters, Betty Bradford, Mary Mitchell, and Maurice Reynolds. Survivors include his Granddaughters: Lisa (Kent) Grannis of Flemingsburg, Lori (Chris) Florence of Flemingsburg, 4 Great- Grandchildren, Leia & Ariel Grannis and Hannah & Caitlyn Florence, as well as his brother, Don (Janet) Reynolds, sister, Audrey Crump, son-in-law Jimmy Story, and several nieces and nephews.
