JAMES ROBERT quot;JIMMYquot; SHOEMAKER, a lifelong resident of Prince William County died Sunday, March 30, 2003 at Prince William Hospital from complications due to lung disease. Mr. Shoemaker was born March 1, 1939 at the Moore Green Farm off of Lucasville Road in Manassas. He subsequently based all 64 years of his life in the Manassas area, where he and his beloved wife of 41 years, Molly Shoemaker raised their family. Known for his generous spirit, Jim will be remembered as a big-hearted patriot with a quick smile, whose life exemplified commitment to family, hometown and country. Jim graduated from Brentsville High School in 1957 and served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Scamp nuclear submarine. Upon retirement he established Shoemakers Appliances on Mathis Avenue. He returned to serving his country in the Navy reserve, and was assigned to the Pentagon. Jim was proud to have attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer upon his final departure from the U.S. Navy in 1989. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Robert Shoemaker Sr. and Bessie Shoemaker, one brother, Daniel K. Shoemaker, and one sister, Barbara J. Shoemaker. Survivors include his devoted wife, Molly, three adoring children, Pamela Shoemaker Berthold, of Bristow, Timothy Shoemaker, of Manassas and Vicki Shoemaker, of Manassas, three siblings, Linda Pyer, of Vienna, Charles quot;Buzzyquot; Shoemaker, of Brentsville and Brenda Lynn, of Manassas and eight wonderful grandchildren, Hannah Shaw, Jeremy Maestri, Rebecca Maestri, Thor Shoemaker, Lyra Shoemaker, Lily Berthold, Arielle Shoemaker and Annabel Berthold who all dearly loved their quot;Grandaddyquot;.
