Died Friday evening May 24, 2019 at his residence. James was born January 31, 1938 in Winslow, Indiana a son of Daniel and Edith (Caldemar) McDonald Sr. During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Air Force. James had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of his life and was employed with General Motors for 31 years, retiring in 1999.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Rev. Charles Brown; his wife, Karolyn M. McDonald on May 23, 2013; a brother, Junior McDonald; and a sister, Karen Overmeyer. He is survived by 2 sons, Kevin McDonald of Vicksburg and Brian (Sonjia) McDonald of Schoolcraft; 5 grandchildren, Robert, Sean (Danielle), Patrick (Zoie), Zack (Lauren), and Miranda; 2 great- grandchildren, Cayden and Harper; 2 sisters; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
