James Robert Greenwell, 66, of Indianapolis, IN passed away peacefully on July 12, 2017 after a valiant battle with emphysema and cancer. He was born on April 26, 1951 in Evansville, Indiana and moved to Indianapolis when he was four months old. Jim graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1969. Prior to retirement, Jim worked for Snap-On tools, Deflecto, Parish Manufacturing and Ozburn Logistics Hessey. He was a Ham radio operator with the call sign WA9UGV. As a hobby, he built a replica of a 1923 Ford T-bucket and won several awards. He loved boating, fishing with his dad, working on engines, woodworking and tinkering in his garage fixing and/or building things.
Jim is survived by his sons, John Scott Greenwell and Nicholas Christian (Mandy) Greenwell; grandchildren Jonathan Greenwell, Megan Greenwell, Austin Greenwell, Aaran Greenwell; mother Ruby Greenwell; sister Martha Writt, Paula (Steve) Bergman, Debra (Hollis) Smith, Gina (Greg) Fornefeld; brother David (Sandy) Greenwell. He is also survived by Sharon Greenwell (ex-wife) who had been married for 36 years. He is preceded in passing by his father John Robert (Bob) Greenwell.
