James Porter Rich passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017 at home with his loving wife by his side.
He was born April 5, 1930 in Thermopolis, Wyoming to William Ronald Rich and Eva Frances Harding-Wood Rich. At the age of ten the family moved to Cooper, Wyoming. In 1948 James joined the United States Navy and served his country honorably for nine years.
During his tour of duty, he met and married Rosemary Cook, together they had a son, James P. Jr. When he separated from the Navy they moved to Central, NM and went to work with Chino Mines until he was laid off at which time he went to work for The Veterans Administration at Fort Bayard until it closed. James then went to work for the State of New Mexico until his retirement.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Rosemary, their son, James Jr. (Rita), three grandchildren, Derryke (Alisha), Desariee( Jared) and Joel; Four great grandchildren, Alexis Rich, Ely Wagner, Winter and Ryker Burn; one brother WR Rich Jr.; many nieces and nephews. He proudly served his God, Jehovah, for more than 60 years.
