James Ramsey McCalla, age 90, of Newnan, GA passed away April 5, 2012 at Georgian Place. Mr. McCalla was born in Newnan to the late James & Lizzie (Holmes) McCalla. He was a graduate of Newnan High School and North Georgia College. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. During his time in the military he served in Africa, Italy and England in the European Theatre Ops. Mr. McCalla was a Bombardier on the B-17 and flew in 43 combat missions in WWII. He married Mildred Parks of Grantville in Jan. 1948.
The marriage lasted for 62 years. Mrs. McCalla passed away Feb. 15, 2010. In addition to his wife & parents he is preceded in by his twin children, Mary Elizabeth & John Park Mc Calla. He worked as an Insurance agent for State Farm Insurance for 31 years , he retired in 1988. Mr. McCalla is survived by his children, James Ramey McCalla, Mildred Jeanne, Richard Holmes, William Emmett (Bill) and Joseph Michael (Mike).
