James R. Murphy, Jr., age 62, of Route 1, Curve Bridge, Grafton, formerly of New Brighton, PA, passed away, Monday, February 13, 2012, at Grafton City Hospital after a short illness. He was born August 5, 1949, in Rochester, PA, a son of the late James R. Murphy, Sr. and Rachel E. (Lingenfelter) Murphy. His wife, Sherry L. (Caplinger) Murphy, survives. They were united in marriage August 22, 1970. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Grafton, the American Legion, the VFW, the DAV, the NRA, and the North American Hunting Club. He was a Vietnam War veteran having served in the US Army with two tours of duty. He was also the 1st cousin, 3 times removed to Phoebe Ann Mosey, aka Annie Oakley. In addition to his wife he is survived by: three children and their spouses, Dana C. Dulaney and husband Kevin, of Parkersburg, WV, James S. “Beau” Murphy and wife Emmy L., of Fairmont, WV, and Scott J. Murphy, of Grafton, WV; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Murphy Lorey, of Newell, WV, Diann Marsh and husband Stanley, of Clinton, PA, Marlene Davidson and husband William, of Koppel, PA; one sister-in-law, Goldie Wilkinson Murphy Johnston, of Midland, PA; numerous nieces and nephews; and his very good friends Robert and Sherry Joseph, of Thornton, WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his brother, Richard W. Murphy, Sr.; two nephews, Mark A. White, and Richard W. Murphy, Jr.
